The 2009 event went on into the evening with a Cash Prize for the Midland Champion of Champions close-up comp' with winners from Midlands clubs taking part. The outright winner and New Champion of Champions was Alan Cooper (see photo above) from
Coventry Magic Circle. As well as winning a magnificent trophy, he won £300 plus two tickets to the much acclaimed Leamington & Warwick Magic Society's Annual Dinner held at the Corus Hotel Near Kenilworth. Alan's winning routine included retrieving a signed bank note from inside a kiwi fruit, held by a spectator prior to the banknote being signed making a signed playing card disappear from a deck of cards and reappear inside a sealed bottle of tonic water which had been standing on the table.
The food, included in the ticket price, was breakfast, mid-afternoon buffet and an evening BBQ. In addition there was free parking for everyone.
